Mission Statement
Little Bee demonstrates high standards of service for children and their families. We promote motivated, independent learners by providing safe, high quality Early Education and nurturing Child Care.
We make positive contributions to all children’s early development by taking their learning forward, celebrating uniqueness and providing opportunities to succeed in an atmosphere of care and of feeling valued.
Philosophy
Little Bee believes that excellent practise in Early Childhood Education is:
- All children feel included, secure and valued.
- Parents and Carers work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
- Carers interact, observe and respond appropriately to children.
- Carers understand the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of children.
- Well-planned, relevant, purposeful activity and appropriate intervention by Carers engage children in the learning process and help them progress.
- Children’s experiences will build on what children already know, and can do.
- Learning is Child-centered. Adults and also children’s own initiatives help plan activities.
Objectives
Our role at little Bee is to plan activities and experiences of the highest quality, considering both children’s needs and achievements and the range of learning experiences that will help them make progress in their development and learning.
Well-planned play, both indoors and outdoors is a key way in which children will learn with enjoyment and challenge during their time at Little Bee.
Our close monitoring of each child’s individual development means that achievements can be celebrated, and ensures all children are making progress.

Curriculum
Little Bee’s curriculum will underpin all future learning by supporting, fostering, promoting and developing children’s:
v Personal, Social, Emotional Well-being
We provide opportunities for each child to become to a valued member of our group so that a strong self-image and self-esteem are promoted.
v Positive Attitudes and Dispositions towards Learning
We promote enthusiasm for knowledge and a confidence in their ability to be successful learners.
v Social Skills
We teach children to cooperate and work harmoniously alongside each other and to listen carefully to each other.
v Communication, Language and Literacy
Children are given the opportunity to talk and communicate in a wide range of situations, to respond to adults and to each other and to practise and extend their vocabulary and communication skills.
v Reading and Writing
All children will explore, enjoy, learn about and use words and text in a broad range of contexts and to experience a rich variety of books.
v Mathematical Development
All children will develop their understanding of number, measurement, pattern, shape and space through a broad range of contexts in which they can explore, enjoy, learn, practise and talk about them.
v Knowledge and Understanding of the World
We give opportunities for children to solve problems, make decisions, experiment, predict, plan and question in a variety of contexts. To explore and find out about their environment and people and places that have significance in their lives.
v Physical Development
Children will develop and practise their fine and gross motor skills, understand how their bodies work and what they need to do to be healthy and safe.
v Creative Development
With opportunities for all children to explore and share their thoughts, ideas and feeling through a variety of art, design and technology, music, movement, dance and imaginative and roleplay activities.
