About Us

Kathy first opened Little Bee Howrah in July 2007, with the aim to offering a curriculum designed specifically for school readiness (for children in their pre-kinder and Kindergarten years). Now running at full capacity, this Centre is a tribute to the brilliant team of 7 staff members, to all of our loyal families and children attending.

Wayne came on board and joined the Little Bee journey in May 2008, with the opening of Little Bee Airport. Formally an ABC Centre, Kathy and Wayne were faced with the task of an even bigger challenge – running a much bigger; 75 placement centre. Working alongside the small number of staff and families, the couple began building the Centre numbers. In less than a year, the Centre was running at its optimal potential. This was not without the assistance of the fabulous group of staff members and families who attend the Centre. Little Bee Airport now has over 30 staff members and 165 families.

Little Bee South Arm has been operating since July 2010. This Centre was due to close, causing devastation amongst the small Community who had no other options for care. Kathy, having grown up in Sandford, felt a duty to help out. The centre is still building its reputation and began with a very small number of families. The small and wonderful staffing team, led by their amazing director, has steadily begun to build numbers and gain the trust of the Community.

EYLF – Early Years Learning Framework & Linking our Curriculum:

Kathy’s extensive experience and training in Early Childhood Education, enabled her to develop a unique curriculum focusing on all learning areas, and specialising in a ‘transition to school’ teaching program for our 3-5 age group.

Our Management team has attended EYLF training sessions in 2010 and will continue this training in 2011.

All staff are working together to link our current curriculum to the new EYLF.

The Recognition Program

Little Bee currently has 15 staff members studying the Certificate III and Diploma of Children’s Services through either traineeships (on the job learning) or by recognition of prior learning!
